Columnar Basalts are rock formations resulting from the quick cooling of lava flow.
Fractures form in a random cellular network (similar to soap bubbles, organic cells, etc.),
though the average distribution of sides is six, giving the hexagonal structures an eerie
man-made appearance. Columnar Basalt is found in limited areas of the U.S., Ireland & Australia.
They can be used as anchors for decorative gates, landscape focal points, signage, water features, lighting fixtures, mailboxes or retaining walls. Column rocks are vertical and add an interesting focal point to every landscape.
